3rd Annual Christmas Bird Count

Bird watchers of all skill levels, join us for the 3rd Annual Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge Christmas Bird Count (CBC). You'll be contributing to a community science effort that has been organized by the Audubon Society for over 100 years!

Wait, so how is the the 3rd Annual CBC?
Because it's the 3rd year that the Refuge will host one of the 15-mile diameter circles used to count birds.

Who should come?
Anyone who likes birds and wants to learn a little more about them while contributing to science. Anyone who wants to spend a day outdoors and make some new friends. Anyone who wants to see parts of the Refuge they may have never seen before.

How does the CBC work?
The day begins at 7am with a group breakfast at Shari's Restaurant in Sherwood (16280 SW Langer Drive, everyone pays their own way). At 8am, everyone breaks into groups and heads to their viewing location. At 4:30pm everyone gathers at the Refuge Visitor Center to add up their numbers, swap stories, and enjoy some refreshments.

What should I bring?
- Appropriate clothing for the weather (we go rain or shine)
- Water, snacks, lunch
- Binoculars (if you have your own, we have a few)
- Notebook (optional if you want to write your sightings down)
