Dr. Geoffrey Donovan
Dr. Donovan will talk about his research showing that exposure to trees is
associated with a wide range of health benefits at all stages of life. Indeed, trees
may improve our health even before we are born. Specifically, Dr. Donovan has
found that women who have more trees around their homes are less likely to have
underweight babies. As children grow, exposure to diverse trees and plants may
reduce the probability that they develop immune diseases such as asthma and
childhood leukemia. In adulthood, exposure to trees is associated lower rates of
cardiovascular and lower-respiratory mortality. The overall message from Dr.
Donovan’s research is that exposure to trees is fundamentally important for our
health.
A Spring 2025 walk at Tualatin River NWR with Treekeepers will be offered to the first 15 people that register and attend Dr. Donovan's talk.
If registering for more than one person please send and email to Info@FriendsofTualatinRefuge.org and your registration will be updated.
