Joyfully Connecting Our Community with the Wonder of the Refuge

The Friends would like the public to know about two things going on at the Refuge that may impact your visit.

Parking Lot Construction

There will be construction starting soon on the expansion of the parking lot at Tualatin River NWR. Although this project will be disruptive to our visitors, we are excited that our parking capacity will nearly double when completed.

Please click the link provided to read about all of the details. If you have any additional questions please contact the Refuge office directly at (503) 625-5944.

Unfortunately Avian Flu has been detected in birds at Tualatin River NWR

We are sharing a link to an ODFW page that provides a summary of what's going on with this current strain of AI. The page is intended for hunters, but the safety information applies to everybody.  While the risk of humans contracting AI is low, it's not zero, so don't handle sick or dead birds that you encounter. Again, any questions may be directed to the Refuge office at (503) 625-5944.

Take a look at Refuge 2020.

Refuge2020 is a collaborative effort of The Friends of Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, the Columbia Gorge Refuge Stewards, The Friends of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge Complex, and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
